Growing up peanut butter and jelly sandwiches were a staple food in our home. Now, as an adult, I want to share that meal time nostalgia with my own child!
However, if you have ever flipped over those store bought jellies and read the ingredients and nutrtion information it can make you a little hesitant.
That’s where homemade Strawberry Chia Jam comes into play! (More berry options listed below)
By not adding the maple syrup, this recipe is ideal for spreading on toast for babies 6 months and up as a no-added sugar fruit spread. (More on Baby Led Weaning here)

The chia seeds in this recipe absorb the liquid from the fruits and acts as a thickener. The chia seeds also add some calcium, protein, fat, fiber, and phosphrous.
Other fruits that I have used for this recipe are:
- Blueberries
- Blackberries
- Raspberries
These can all be equally substituted for the strawberries! Play around and find the flavor combination you love.
I am a huge fan of half raspberries and half strawberries to achieve the perfect balance of sweet and tangy!
This jam is more than just a great toast topping. It also tastes great on:
- Bagels
- Yogurt
- Waffles
- Pancakes
- Sandwhich Sushi Bites
